If I lived in 1962...

I would look like this:
Find out what you'd look like at: yearbookyourself.com

And another thing I want to blog about pertains to a problem of mine. Those of you who know me the best, know that I just make up words if I can't think of a good word for something. I'm not sure why I do this, but I can remember countless times growing up where my bros would say Leah what does that mean? After I had said something off the wall. Or the best one my sister can vouge for is singing. If I forgot the word of a song I'd just make my own word up to fill in the blank. I know I'm weird what can I say. One of my most favorite things to do is to change the words on songs. I will create my own songs to classic melodies in just minutes. I'll spare you all this trauma as my children, hubby, family plead for me to stop the non-sense. Anyway the real thing I wanted to say here is yesterday Derick came home from school and proceeded to tell me that he didn't feel well at school all day. He said he was having a hard time concentrating. So I said well son, tell me how you feel. And he says I feel droozy! DROOZY, are you kidding me, he's inherited a terrible gene. I like to pass off my finest qualities to my children but this one??? I don't think too many people are going to be thrilled with the pass off. So enjoy your night and if any of you can tell me what the heck it feels like, to feel DROOZY I'd love to know!

Oh How They Grow!

So we are going on 1 week tomorrow for our puppies. Yesterday we took them to the vet to have their dew claws removed. What an experience that was. Eric came with me and we also brought our best helper Livie. (NOT) She was more trouble than the puppies, just so busy. Anyway the vet and his staff just oohed and awed at how cute they were. They each picked out their favorites. So fun!
I named the pups according to description just so that I could tell them apart. The kids probably each have their own names too. Derick is disgusted that we would even think of selling them. Like we can really keep 5 puppies. lol
Here are the puppies in birth order:
Stripey-Our first little boy weighs 9 oz. Thanks to my good friend Adrianne for loaning me her ounce scale. I can weigh these pups every day and I have been. They grow so fast and should be quite small when they are full grown.

Dottie-She is the runt of the litter and is already adopted! Sorry if someone else had their heart set on her. She is a sweet little girl and is the one my kiddos especially wanted to keep. She weighs 7.5 oz and looks most like her daddy Charlie.

Girlie-For lack of a better name, she is the only other girl we have. I think she looks most like her mom. She weighs 8 oz.

Rolie-PolieWeighing in at a whopping 10 oz! This little guy is solid! He is by far the biggest pup we have. I love his little tail with the white stripe and tip. He's a cutie and NEVER misses a meal!

Double -DiamondHe is the last of the litter, and we weren't even sure he was in the womb still. But he came out about 1 hour after rolie-polie. He has some cute markings and weighs 9 oz.

So these guys are EASY for now! I don't have to do anything except change the pad in the welping box once a day. Roxy is an excellent Mommy and she keeps her pups so clean. She is patient with the feedings too. If I were her I'd be begging for mercy with the way these puppies nurse. They just fight and tug on her so hard. These puppies mean business when it's eating time. I probably won't be saying life is so easy at the end of next week. Their eyes should be opening and then I'm sure they will want to be out of the box playing!

Introducing...

This morning Roxy finally had her babies. It was a long couple of nights and Eric and I are so tired. This morning I woke up at 6:00 to hear Roxy going crazy. We had put her little nesting box in our bathroom so she could have dark and quiet to deliver. She ended up delivering the first little boy in my closet on my shoes. Lovely huh. I was so glad to see he was alive when I found him. Shortly after that a little white with black dots girl arrived. Then she had another girl and then 2 more boys. So we have a total of 5 puppies and momma and pups are resting peacefully now. The kids were able to see 3 of the pups before they had to go to school and they were so excited. Dogs can deliver puppies up to 2 hours apart so there could be more, but the longest gap Roxy had her puppies was 1 hour. So I think we are done with this litter. I am thrilled that the first litter was so healthy. Roxy is a great little Mom and she did all the work herself. All the puppies are black and white and just so cute. They should be ready to go to their new homes sometime around the middle of October. The kids think we should keep them all. NOT!!!

We Are EXPECTING!!!

Yes it's true, we are going to be having a litter of PUPPIES very soon! Roxy is showing all the signs of labor and so we will announce the litter as soon as they arrive. Wish us luck as we try to help her deliver her pups safe and sound. We are expecting the delivery to happen within 24 hours. Yeah for puppies! Here she is in her classic back scratchin position:

Back to School

All the kids are gone today and I feel lost. It is wierd when all your kids leave the nest and go learn from others besides just Mom. Today was the first day back to school, August 11th, 2008! This was the Best picture out of the 4 I took, I promise!
I am soooo NERVOUS for Kim.
It freaks me out that she is in Junior High. Will she be able to find all her classes, will she know where to go eat lunch, will she have friends to sit with at lunch, will she be able to crack the combo on her locker. Will she be nice, and make lots of friends, will she choose the right? All these things are just killing me today. Eric gave her a beautiful blessing last night, (even though he feels like crap). I just cried through the whole thing, I actually cried through all the children's blessings, but that shouldn't surprise anyone. Derick is not so thrilled about the 5th grade. Ya you guessed it, Derick wasn't about to smile for me.
I guess he's heard things about his Teacher from his peers and isn't so sure he's going to like her. In fact he's made up his mind that he doesn't like her. I asked him if it would be fair if his 4th grade Teacher went to his new Teacher and told her all the things Derick did that were wrong or that she didn't like, last year. I think he got the drift, but he still wasn't happy about her. I am happy though, I think this will be a good experience for Derick to choose to make it a great day! Zachary

was acting really weird yesterday. Eric and I couldn't figure it out. He was clingy, he cried a lot, he didn't want a fathers blessing. He told us right before bed that it was because Derick was mean to him. I think he might have been feeling a bit nervous about school. Even though he is thrilled with his Teacher. I walked Livie to her class today, she is in Pre-K at Hale. She opens the door and walks right in all proud and says, Hi Mrs. Churchman(choochmun as she pronounces it). All the other kiddos were clinging to mommy. That’s my Livie she is
so BRAVE!
